Underground Garage Gym Gets Results

Some of the best workouts get done with the most basic of equipment.

We concentrate on getting the basics right, so you are the owner of great exercise and strength building habits.

You don’t need much stuff, but you do need to be able to scale the intensity so the least fit can learn do the same functional exercises as the most fit. Safety first, and good habits are easier to learn, than unlearning bad habits.

For instance, we use a Chin/Dip assist machine, which uses our existing olympic weights. The purpose of the machine is so that folks like my mother can learn to do dips and chins properly without over stress because of too much weight.

As the unfit person gets stronger, the weight on the machine is reduced until finally the athlete is using their own body weight (if they are capable).

The Concept2 rower is the best cardio warmup available.

Because rowing uses so many muscle groups over so many joints and uses concentric and eccentric muscle movements. Arms, back, stomach, shoulders, hips and legs are all used - compare it with a bike which mainly uses the quads in the upper leg for most of its effect.

In fact if you row hard enough you can just about become superman without doing much else -except you might get a little bit bored.

And boredom is something we want to avoid. We make exercise fun, but ultimately very intense.
